Islands, ferries and long-haul arrivals.
Travel eSIM for Thailand
Thailand trips often combine a city with islands or beaches, with flights, ferries and transfers between them. A travel eSIM stays with you across all of them, with nothing to swap.
Connecting in Thailand
Many visitors arrive after a long-haul flight, so install before you leave and avoid setting up with a tired head.
Plans for Thailand are not on sale through this site yet. This page tells you how to prepare, so you are ready when they are.
Before You Fly
Get Ready at Home.
Check your phone supports eSIM. Use our phone check.
Make sure it is network-unlocked. Ask your carrier if you are unsure.
Install before departure, on Wi-Fi. The install guide has the steps for iPhone and Android.
For this trip: Install the eSIM before your first flight, especially if you have a layover on the way, then wait to turn on data roaming until you land.
On Arrival
Switch On in Thailand.
Turn off airplane mode.
Turn on Data Roaming for the eSIM line and set mobile data to that line. Keep your home SIM for calls and WhatsApp.
Wait a minute for the network to appear, then open a web page to test. Check your transfer details and confirm your hotel address before you leave the arrivals area.
Good to Know
Notes for Thailand.
Islands and ferries. Signal on remote islands, at sea or in rural areas can be weaker. Save bookings and addresses offline before you set off.
Sharing your connection. If you plan to share your data with another device, check your plan’s details first, as not every plan allows it.
Heat and humidity. Hot, humid days are hard on batteries. A power bank and a waterproof phone pouch are both sensible.
Airport and hotel Wi-Fi is not secure. Anyone on the same network may be able to see what you do on it. Pair your eSIM with TasVPN for extra privacy on public networks.
